• Greate Bay Country Club, Somers Point, NJ - DIRECTIONS

• * Tee times start at 12:30 through approximately 1:30.

• Please be at the Greate Bay putting green NO LATER THAN 12:00 PM SHARP to allow for final organization/explanation of the Chump Cup rules.

• Greens Fees and post round apps will be covered by your JBG Tour entry fee.

• $25 is the all-in cost for Chump Cup side bets.

• All alcohol and the post Chump Cup dinner is a separate cost for each individual.

• Post round: as per Chump Cup tradition... please grab a drink at the bar and head back to the 18th green to watch the rest of the field finish their rounds.

• Following the playing of the Chump Cup we will have:

  • Immediately post round:  Drinks & Apps during the trophy and purse awards ceremony ​

  • Dinner for all interested in continuing the evening in the "Park Room" at Greate Bay

The 2023 Chump Cup 

The 2023 Chump Cup and the culmination of the 2023 JBG Tour season will be returning to the  beautiful,  and recently improved, Greate Bay Country Club. For those of you who have participated in prior Chump Cups... you already know what to expect!  For those playing in their first Chump Cup, we hope you enjoy the challenge of enduring the pressure of competing for the coveted Chump Cup trophy and all the glory that comes with it!  Please read below to familiarize yourself with all that will be going on at the 2023 Chump Cup.

 

Post-Chump Cup Celebration

• ***After the completion of your round please quickly grab a drink at the Greate Bay bar and head back over to the 18th green to watch your fellow Chump Cup competitors finish their rounds.  This is a great part of the Chump Cup tradition and makes for a great atmosphere for the players coming in behind you***

• After all Chump Cup competitors complete their rounds we will conclude the 2023 JBG season with the traditional Post Chump Cup party at Great Bay in their private "Park Room" including:

  • Drinks & apps followed by dinner in the Park Room

  • The 2023 Chump Cup giveaway swag

  • Awarding of the JBG Tour & Chump Cup trophies

  • Awarding of the JBG Tour & Chump Cup purses

  • Awarding of the Chump Cup side bets

  • Lots of Chump Cup talk, laughs and good times!

JBG Implications

• The Chump Cup plays a significant role in the overall JBG Tour including:

  • The “Mulligan Rule”-  your Chump Cup finishing Rank score can replace your highest (worst) monthly Rank score from earlier in the same JBG season.​

  • For those who have taken part in the Chump Cup in the past, the traditions will continue…. 

    • The Chump Cup winner is etched forever in the annals of golf history!  The Chump Cup winner's name and Chump Cup winning score will be etched forever on the iconic Chump Cup.​

    • The Chump Cup winner will be awarded the 2023 Chump Cup 1st Place Purse.

    • The Chump Cup winner will be awarded the 2023 Solo Cup Trophy to add to their personal trophy case at home (not to be confused with the original Chump Cup).

    • And perhaps most importantly… an entire year's worth of bragging rights!!!

2023 Chump Cup Purses

• Individual Competition

  • Chump Cup Winner... $ TBD

Side Betting

Additional side wagers in addition to the above JBG implications are as follows:

• $25 per person​

• Closest to the Pin

  • $5 per man per hole​, $20 per man total

  • 4 Par 3's

    • Front 9 Holes # 3 & # 9

    • Back 9 Holes: # 13 & # 16

  • Closest to the pin and no worse than par to win a hole.

  • If no JBG'er has a qualifying shot on a given par 3 the money pushes to the next par 3

  • If no JBG'er wins the final par 3, any remaining money in the Closest to the Pin pool is awarded to the 2023 Chump Cup champion

• Long Drive

  • $5 per man​

  • Winner takes all

  • Long Drive Hole:  # 7

  • An eligible Long Drive tee shot must come to rest in the fairway (a questionable lie, needs to be confirmed by another player in your group).  Shots finishing in the first cut or rough are not eligible for Long Drive.  Only your first shot from the tee box is eligible (i.e. provisional shots, 2nd shot after OB/hazard, etc. are not eligible)

  • If no JBG'er wins the Long Drive competition, the money in the Long Drive pool is awarded to the 2023 JBG Tour Champion​

Day of the Chump Cup: Join the "Live Leaderboard" on The Grint App

• Please be sure to download the Grint app to your phone prior to arriving at the Chump Cup if you have not done so already.  You need to score your Chump Cup round using The Grint app on your phone during the round.

• Just prior to the start of the Chump Cup, a link will be sent to you via WhatsApp.  The link will take you directly to the “2023 CHUMP CUP” leaderboard page on The Grint app.​​

• After clicking on the link in WhatsApp, the Grint app will open and you will then click on “Join Leaderboard”

• On the next screen called "ROUND SETUP" click on “Next” in the upper right hand corner.

• On the next screen called "PLAYERS SETUP":

  • If under the column "Course Handicap" you see a GREEN CIRCLE with a number in it simply click on “Next” in the upper right hand corner.

  • If under the column "Course Handicap" you see a GRAY CIRCLE with the word "Set" in it, click on the word "Set" once.  A number will populate the circle and the circle will turn yellow.  Now click on “Next” in the upper right hand corner.

• You will then be taken to Hole # 1 of Greate Bay's scorecard on the Grint and you will keep score as normal from there.

• It is VERY important that you remember to enter your score after each and every hole.

• You’ll now be able to follow the "Live Leaderboard" for all participants in real time during the 2023 Chump Cup by clicking on the "Leaders" icon in the lower right corner of the Grint app.

 

Life is good... The Chump Cup is headed back to Greate Bay!
